My experience with children, adolescents, parents, families, and older adults gives me a nuanced understanding of development across the lifespan, and allows me to meet people with compassion, clarity, and practical expertise. My faith in God grounds the way I show up as a therapist—not by directing the content of our work, but by anchoring me in humility and a deep respect for each person’s inherent dignity. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and beliefs, and I’m committed to creating a space where your values and goals guide the process. Parent‑Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a short‑term, evidence‑based treatment for families with children ages 2½ to 7 who are experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges. PCIT teaches caregivers practical skills to reduce difficult behaviors, strengthen positive behaviors, and improve the parent‑child relationship.
Treatment begins with an intake appointment that typically includes an observation to ensure PCIT is a good fit for your family. PCIT then moves through two structured phases, each usually lasting 6–8 sessions, depending on progress and your family’s needs.
A hallmark of PCIT is live coaching. The therapist observes you and your child together and provides real‑time guidance as you practice the skills. This collaborative approach helps reduce parenting stress and supports meaningful, lasting change. PCIT can be completed in person if the provider has a designated playroom or delivered virtually in your home, with both formats offering the same level of support and effectiveness.
-
Yes! Internet-delivered PCIT (I-PCIT) is just as effective as traditional in‑person PCIT (and sometimes more!) because the core elements of the model remain fully intact: live coaching, real-time skill‑practice, structured phases, and clear, measurable goals. Research consistently shows that families participating virtually experience meaningful improvements in child behavior, parent‑child connection, and caregiver confidence, comparable to outcomes seen in clinic‑based treatment. Many parents even find that practicing skills in their own home helps their learned strategies and the child’s learned skills take hold more quickly, since coaching happens in the same environment where daily challenges naturally occur. Virtual sessions also provide meaningful benefits such as removing commute time, outside childcare for siblings, and additional transitions that can be stressful for young children. This can make it easier for families to attend consistently and stay engaged in the process.
-
Caregivers don’t need much to get started with virtual PCIT - just a few basics to help sessions run smoothly. You’ll need a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone (a laptop, tablet, or smartphone all work), Bluetooth earbuds and a space where you and your child can play without interruptions. You’ll use a select set of toys or activities that you likely already have that support coaching, which I’ll help you select based on your child’s age and interests.
-
PCIT sessions differ from traditional therapy in both structure and intensity, which is reflected in the cost. The initial intake appointment is $305, and all weekly coaching sessions that follow are $205. These rates remain consistent throughout the course of treatment, so you know exactly what to expect as we move through the PCIT process together.
